So, how to find us... good question.
No worries.
For information on buses to Golden Bay, best to visit the isite
who know it all a lot better that us. Basically
once you are on a bus into Golden Bay, simply ask the bus driver that
you be dropped off at Hangdog Camp/ Paynes Ford and 99.9% of the time
it wont be a problem. The other .01% means you may have to walk
the 3km from Takaka back again. Pretty easy.
For people driving/ hitching/ cycling,
it's still pretty easy. Basically, get directions from wherever you
are in the country to the Abel Tasman National Park and follow those.
Eventually you will come to a reasonable size
town called Motueka. From here, keep on the State Highway 60 north-west,
following the signs for Takaka and/or Collingwood.
This will take you up and over the Takaka Hill (voted top 5 scariest/
funnest drives in NZ)- you will definitely know when you are
on this. Once on the other side, welcome to Golden Bay!!
From the village at the base of the Hill, follow the road down the Valley
for approximately 15- 20 km. The second major
bridge on this highway is Paynes Ford, and you should notice some large
looming cliffs off to your right at this point. 100 metres past this
on the right is home base. Look for the sign.

If you hit Takaka township, you've
gone a bit far, just turn around and head back for 3km or so, and when
you see the big bridge ahead of you, look to your left.
If it's a reasonable hour feel free to call us as well... it's much
easier over the phone.
